The Delta State Police Command has recorded another major breakthrough in its policing strategy across the state with the crackdown on the hideout of a notorious armed robbery/kidnapping gang, operating at Adheje community, close to popular Warri-Sapele Road.
Also acting on credible intelligence It was learnt that a police team operating along Agbor axis, Ika South Local Government area, successfully foiled an attempted armed robbery/kidnapping attacks on students hostel within the same locality.
Making this disclosure in a statement signed by the Command’s Spokesperson, SP Bright Edafe, The Command said the achievements underscore its unwavering commitment to proactive crime prevention and the dismantling of criminal networks across the state.
According to the statement; “In a major intelligence-led operation, operatives of the Command’s Special Assignment Team (CP-SAT), led by ASP Julius Robinson, uncovered a suspected gang armoury following the handover and interrogation of one Dafiaga Timothy, (m) 25, resident in Effurun Community, Uvwie Council area.
“The suspect is alleged to be a member of a criminal syndicate responsible for terrorising commuters and residents along the Warri–Sapele Road corridor”.
“Acting on information derived from the suspect, operatives at about 0530hrs on February 19, 2026, stormed a concealed hideout along the Warri-Sapele Road by the Adheje Community axis”
Continuing; “A thorough search of the location led to the recovery of one locally made long gun, a locally made cut-to-size firearm, and a fabricated Beretta-style pistol loaded with five rounds of live ammunition, in addition to ten live cartridges and a dagger”
Police authorities noted that the recovery has significantly degraded the operational capacity of the criminal syndicate. Investigation is ongoing.
Suspected Armed Robber Arrested on Patrol
In a separate operation on February 18, 2026, at about 0500hrs, operatives of Area Command Warri, while on visibility patrol along the Agbarho/Warri Expressway, intercepted a blue tricycle with registration number Anambra ABM 30 QC conveying three occupants.
During a lawful search, two of the occupants fled into a nearby bush in an attempt to evade arrest.
The driver, identified as Aliyu Sabo, 25, a resident of Hausa Quarter by DSC Roundabout, was swiftly apprehended.

A search of the tricycle yielded a locally cut-to-size pistol concealed in the vehicle, alongside one live cartridge and one expended cartridge.
Additional items recovered include two mobile phones, a Zealot MP3 player, a face mask, and a black bag.
The suspect remains in custody while investigations continue and efforts are being intensified to apprehend the fleeing accomplices.
In a related development, operatives of the Agbor Division, led by CSP Micheal Obekpa, thwarted an attempted robbery at Texas Lodge Hostel in Alihame Community, Agbor, at about 0400hrs on February 18, 2026, following a distress call.
On sighting the approaching patrol team, the hoodlums fled into the surrounding bush.
The area was immediately cordoned off and subjected to a comprehensive combing operation.
During the sweep, officers recovered a locally fabricated pistol and an expended cartridge believed to have been abandoned by the fleeing suspects.
Also recovered were three mobile phones, an iPhone XR, a Samsung device, and a Tecno touch-light phone, as well as an earpod and a power bank.
Preliminary investigation is underway, with intensified efforts to track down the fleeing suspects.
The Delta state Commissioner of Police, CP Aina Adesola, commended the operatives for their vigilance, professionalism, and swift response to intelligence.
He reaffirmed the Command’s resolve to dismantle criminal networks, mop up illegal firearms, and ensure that perpetrators of violent crimes are brought to justice.
The Police Commissioner also urged members of the public to remain security conscious and continue to provide timely and credible information to law enforcement authorities.
