Operatives of the Kwale Police Station of the Delta State Police Command have arrested two suspected electric cable vandals as part of sustained efforts to protect critical national infrastructure in the state.
The suspects were apprehended on June 25, 2026, at about 10:30 hrs in a joint operation with members of the local vigilante group.
The Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, who confirmed the development in a statement on Saturday, said operatives swiftly mobilised to the scene after acting on credible intelligence that suspected vandals were dismantling and stealing electric cables along the Ibabu–Ugiliamai Road.
He said the suspects, upon sighting the team, attempted to evade arrest.
“During the ensuing operation, one of the suspects sustained injury and is presently receiving treatment at the hospital, while one of the suspects is in custody.

“The suspects were later identified as Osakwe Sunday (28yrs) and Ekene Obocha (34yrs).”
The vandalised electric cables were recovered as exhibits.
The Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, CP Yemi Oyeniyi, warned criminal elements to desist from vandalising critical government infrastructure and other public assets, stressing that the command would not relent in its efforts to identify, arrest, and prosecute offenders.
He also urged members of the public to continue providing timely and credible information to the police.
