Fast-rising Nigerian artist Kingsley Atu Takon, popularly known as Dekingz, has unveiled a new single titled 042, a track he describes as a powerful street anthem with a strong social message.

Dekingz, who hails from Cross River State, studied at the Institute of Management and Technology (IMT), Enugu, where his passion for music grew.

A rapper, singer, and songwriter, he traces his musical roots back to childhood, drawing inspiration from Nigerian music legend 2Baba (formerly known as 2Face Idibia) as well as several Western rap artists.

Speaking about his latest release, the artiste revealed that 042 which officially dropped on Friday is dedicated to the streets of Enugu and the wider South-East and South-South regions of Nigeria.

According to him, the song addresses the growing issue of fake pastors and aims to shed light on the manipulation and exploitation faced by many.

Dekingz disclosed that the inspiration behind the track is deeply personal. He recounted being financially duped by a pastor, an experience that fueled the emotional depth and message behind the song.

“The song is not just music; it’s a message and an inspiration. I was inspired to compose it after a fake pastor duped me of my hard-earned money,” he said, noting that his primary target audience is listeners across the South-East and South-South regions. He hopes the track will resonate strongly with young people and encourage awareness.
