Debut of 1st Private Varsity in Umuahia: Methodist Archbishop tasks youths on hard work

The Methodist Archbishop of Umuahia Archdiocese, Most Rev Chibuzor Opoko, has tasked youths in the country on the need to imbibe the spirit of hard work, honesty and commitment in whatever they do.

Archbishop Opoko gave the task during the official unveiling of Lux Mundi University, (LMU) Afaraukwu, Umuahia, the first private university in the Abia State.

The Methodist Archbishop told the youths that the only way to succeed in life is through hardwork, honesty and dedication to duty and not through fraudulent means.

He described the founder of the university, Prof Gabriel Okenwa as a symbol of honesty, hard work and dedication to duty.

The Chancellor, Catholic Diocese of Umuahia, Rev Father Henry Maduka saw the university as one of the good things that have happened in Umuahia in recent times.

He added it was God that gave the founder, a native of Ibeku, Umuahia the wisdom to establish the university in his home town of Ndagbo Afaraukwu, Umuahia.

Speaking with newsmen later, the founder of LMU, Prof Okenwa, said it was through the grace of God that the institution which he described as a world class university, was founded.

Prof Okenwa informed that its students will be given the opportunity to study in the United States of America on completion of their third year programme in the university.

“The university is peopled by men and women of academic excellence who are drawn from various parts of the universe and its emphasis will be on entrepreneurship is to ensure that its students become employers of labour as soon as they leave the school rather than job seekers”, he said.

The unveiling ceremony attracted different religious heads in Umuahia, Abia Commandant of Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), traditional rulers and other stakeholders.
