Nigerian-American singer David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has unveiled plans for a major youth recreational centre, sports facilities and a concert hub in Osun State, with the projects expected to provide opportunities and constructive outlets for thousands of young people.
Davido disclosed the plans in Ede after returning from London, saying the proposed youth centre would feature a football field, swimming pools, tennis and basketball courts, running tracks and other recreational facilities.
The singer, who serves as chairman of the Osun Sports Trust Fund, said several initiatives had been put on hold during the election period but would now receive renewed attention following the re-election of his uncle, Governor Ademola Adeleke.
“We will soon get the stadium project completed; I will visit the stadium today. There are plans to also build a recreational center for the youths, which involves a football field, swimming pools, tennis, basketball, tracks, and so on,” he said.
Davido said the facility was conceived as more than a sports project, stressing that it would provide young people with productive activities and help keep them away from negative influences.
“For the youths, we talked about an event center that will have a lot of things to keep them engaged and away from negative vices. I am already looking for land for that. That kind of facility can attract thousands of youths every month, taking them off the streets. That is definitely one of my major plans,” he said.
He also announced plans for a major concert in Osun, saying the proposed concert centre could be ready before the governor’s inauguration in December.

“Another project we are looking at is creating a concert center. I think before the inauguration in December, we will have it ready in Osun,” he said.
Davido said the concert would also provide a platform for emerging Osun artistes, revealing plans to organise a competition to select young performers who would share the stage with him.
“We are planning a concert after the inauguration, and I definitely want to see Osun youths perform alongside me. So, maybe we will organize a little competition before then to pick the artists,” he said.
The singer praised the people of Osun for supporting the Adeleke administration during the election, expressing optimism about the governor’s second term.
“My uncle, the governor, should be an example to all other government officials out there. It means that if you work well for the people, the people will work well for you, no matter what,” he said.
“I am very excited for the next four years for my uncle. Osun is already thriving, so I can only imagine the plans for the next four years. I really want to thank the Osun people for standing by the Adeleke family and ensuring our re-election.”
Despite his participation in political campaigns, Davido said he had no personal ambition to seek political office, indicating that his focus remained on supporting youth development, sports and entertainment initiatives in the state.
