David, Gloria, others shine as curtain falls on 2024 CBN Junior Tennis Championship

David Edward and Gloria Samuel, at the weekend, emerged cynosure of all eyes after respectively bagging gold in the male and female category of the 2024 CBN Junior Tennis Championship held at Lagos Lawn Tennis Club, Lagos.
The annual tourney which was observed by top dignitaries from CBN, saw Lagos based David Edward beat Abuja starlet, Dubem Amasiana to clinch gold in the U-16 boys category while Gloria Samuel from Ekiti, outshined Goodnews Aina to podium finish in the girls set.
Success Godwin, Goodluck Tersoo, Mofi Antilola also carts away top prices from their respective grade which varies from 12 to 14.
Reacting to the successful tourney, Deputy Director, CBN Corporate Communications Department, Ibrahim Abbas lauded the outcome, describing it as a top notch tournament whose purpose won’t be tampered with. He however charges participant never to relent in their bid to become great tennis star in nearest future.
“ I’m glad with the talent I’ve seen today and I can assure you this upcoming tennis stars are going places. All I need tell them is never to relent in their aim of becoming notable star in nearest future.”
“ As for we the sponsor, we’ll do all to ensure this tournament keep going higher. Although it hasn’t been easy staging this top notch competition but at the same time, I give kudos to those behind the initiative and I pray future world star comes out from this.”
“ We also have bigger plans for the development of the game and I hope next edition outclass the previous ones. Once again, I say kudos to the boys and girls who has made it to this stage and I wish them well in all their endeavors,” he stated.
