The Managing Director of Dangote Sinotruk West Africa Limited (DSWAL), Mr. Hikmat Thapa, has commended the National Automotive Design and Development Council (NADDC) and its Director-General, Otunba Oluwemimo Osanipin, for launching the National Automotive Repository Portal (NARP).
Thapa described the new portal as a landmark initiative that will accelerate the growth and competitiveness of Nigeria’s automotive industry.
The National Automotive Repository Portal (NARP), a digital platform developed by the NADDC to transform the regulation, monitoring and development of Nigeria’s automotive industry through real-time data management and automated compliance processes, was officially unveiled on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, at the Radisson Blu Hotel, Ikeja, Lagos.
Industry stakeholders at the event took turns to commend the initiative and sought clarifications on the operation of the portal following its formal unveiling and detailed introduction by an IT analyst and member of the NARP implementation team, Jovita Nwanaforo.
Speaking after the unveiling, Mr. Thapa, expressed confidence that the platform would usher in a new era of transparency, innovation and sustainable development for the Nigerian automotive sector.
Congratulating the NADDC on the successful launch, Thapa described the unveiling of the portal as “a significant milestone in the advancement of Nigeria’s automotive industry.”
“It is a great honor and privilege to extend my heartfelt congratulations on the official launch of the National Automotive Repository Portal by the National Automotive Design and Development Council (NADDC),” he said.
According to him, the portal would enhance transparency, strengthen data management, support evidence-based policymaking and promote sustainable growth across the automotive value chain.
“This important initiative marks a significant milestone in the advancement of Nigeria’s automotive industry. The portal will enhance transparency, improve data management, support evidence-based policymaking, and promote sustainable growth across the sector,” Thapa stated.
He also applauded the leadership of the Council and other stakeholders for bringing the initiative to fruition.
“I commend the leadership of NADDC and all stakeholders whose vision, dedication, and hard work have made this achievement possible. I am confident that the National Automotive Repository Portal will serve as a valuable platform for industry development, investment promotion, and innovation,” he stated.
Expressing optimism about the future of the industry, the DSWAL Managing Director said the portal would help position Nigeria’s automotive sector for greater competitiveness through technology-driven development.
“On this historic occasion, I wish NADDC continued success as it leads Nigeria’s automotive industry toward a more prosperous, competitive, and technology-driven future.
“Congratulations once again, and best wishes for the continued success of this remarkable initiative,” Thapa added.
