The Chairman of the Board of Directors of DAAR Communications PLC, Raymond Dokpesi Jr., on behalf of the management of the organisation, has donated jerseys and other accessories to the Edo State Football Association (Edo FA) for players and officials ahead of the forthcoming FA Cup competition.
The gesture underscores the enduring commitment of DAAR Communications PLC to the promotion and development of sports in Nigeria. Since its inception, the organisation has consistently supported initiatives that encourage youth participation in sports, talent discovery and community development.
This tradition was firmly established by the visionary founding father of the organisation, Chief Raymond Aleogho Dokpesi of blessed memory whose passion for youth empowerment and sports development remains one of the enduring pillars of the company’s philosophy.
Today, that legacy continues under the leadership of the chairman, Raymond Dokpesi Jr., who has sustained the organisation’s commitment to initiatives that positively impact society.
The presentation also reflects the cordial relationship between DAAR Communications PLC and the Edo State government under the leadership of Governor Monday Okpebholo. In recognition of the warmth, goodwill and cooperation extended to the organisation, the initiative commenced with the Edo State Football Association.
Speaking during the presentation, Raymond Dokpesi Jr, who was represented by a management delegation led by the Head of Corporate Communications and Planning of DAAR Communications PLC, reaffirmed the organisation’s belief in the transformative power of sports. He noted that football and sports generally remain powerful tools for youth engagement, discipline, national unity and the discovery of future champions who will bring pride to their communities and the nation.
He further expressed the hope that the donated kits would serve as a modest but meaningful contribution to the continued development of football in Edo State.
In his response, the chairman of the Edo State Football Association, Fred Erhunmwunse, alongside Board members of the Edo FA and other stakeholders, expressed delight at the gesture, describing it as a welcome and historic support for football development in the state. He noted that the donation was the first of its kind since his assumption of office as Chairman of the Association.
Erhunmwunse commended the Chairman and Management of DAAR Communications PLC for what he described as a great partnership and expressed optimism about deeper collaboration between the organisation and the football association in the future. He also called on other stakeholders and corporate organisations to key into similar initiatives aimed at supporting grassroots football and sports development in Edo State.
