The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has raised the alarm over activities of fraudsters and warned those seeking appointment to be wary of fake appointment letters circulating online.
In a statement issued by the Customs on its official X (formerly Twitter), it disowned the fake appointment letters,adding that there was ongoing recruitment process
Meanwhile, the Federal Operations Unit (FOU) has vowed to strengthen its anti-smuggling operations along major corridors and border communities in the South West.
Comptroller of the Unit, Mohammed Shuaibu, spoke when it intercepted 5,000 bags of foreign parboiled rice as part of a renewed effort to stop the inflow of prohibited rice and other goods into the country.

Shuaibu explained further that beyond the value of the seizures the operations also aimed at scaling down illicit trade that continues to challenge legitimate commerce across the region. The Customs boss also noted that the agency is not only enforcing trade laws, but also helping to safeguard Nigeria’ s food security, policy and revenue base.
He,therefore,said that the a visible presence in key smuggling routes in Ogun, Lagos and Oyo states,with many suspects are under investigation as part of ongoing enforcement activities
According to him, some of the items confiscated in these areas include :5,015 bags of 50kg foreign parboiled rice, 15 used Tokunbo vehicles, 640 parcels of cannabis sativa weighing 431.8kg, 460 Jerry can of Premium Motor s Spirit (PMS) about 11,500 litres, 143 bales of used clothing, two jumbo sacks of used shoes, one sack of used clothing, 390 bottles of codeine, 310 foreign branded drugs, 19 cards of tramadol, 210 pieces of used tyres, one 20- foot container CONEU 2419369, FTC containing 752 cartons of calcium lactations intercepted for ‘ false” declaration, he concluded.
