Charles Ikechukwu Akoma, founder of Crystalbeds Africa, is driving efforts to reshape the African travel landscape through innovative digital solutions.

Established in 2018, the platform was created in response to persistent issues facing travelers across the continent, including unreliable hotel bookings, visa delays, and poorly organized car rental services.

According to Akoma, “The inspiration behind Crystalbeds Africa stems from the widespread issues plaguing African travel, including a lack of trust in hotel platforms, visa delays, overbooking nightmares, and disorganized car rental services.”

With a professional background spanning real estate, tourism, and digital business, Akoma identified a market need for a reliable, tech-enabled travel platform tailored specifically to the African context. Since its launch, Crystalbeds Africa has served over 10,000 travelers and connected hundreds of property owners with verified guests. The company has also contributed to job creation and the growth of small and medium hospitality businesses in Nigeria and other parts of the continent.

Its services go beyond accommodation. The company’s visa and medical travel offerings have supported individuals and families seeking international opportunities.

Crystalbeds Africa has also taken part in more than 20 industry events, including travel expos, real estate summits, and hospitality conferences. These engagements have allowed the company to promote sustainable tourism and build strategic partnerships across sectors.

Akoma’s work has received recognition, including a nomination as one of the Top 100 Hospitality Innovators in Africa and acknowledgement from the AFRIKTA Business Network. The brand has also been featured in several travel and lifestyle publications.

Looking forward, Crystalbeds Africa is planning to introduce a luxury travel concierge service and expand into Zanzibar, South Africa, and Ghana. Other upcoming projects include collaborations with airlines for corporate travel packages and the launch of a YouTube and documentary series titled “The African Travel Experience.”

Akoma said the new initiatives are geared toward advancing the platform’s mission of offering a seamless and trustworthy travel experience across the continent.
