The governor had weeks ago announced the plans by his administration to resume payments of bursaries in the state after ten years alongside special grants for medical students.
“No Cross River student should abandon their dreams because of financial hardship,” the governor said after an executive council meeting.
“In the coming months, we will resume bursary payments to our students in tertiary institutions. We will also introduce special grants for medical students to ease the burden of their training.”
He described the intervention as a return of education support schemes that had been dormant for over 10 years.
