The Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Engr Abubakar Momoh, has commended the Vice Chancellor of the University of Calabar, Prof Florence Banku Obi, for executing quality projects in the institution and promises more collaboration with other universities in the Soiuth-South region.
Engr Momoh, who made the commendation at the weekend in Calabar during a surprise visit for an on-the-spot assessment of the state of Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) projects, said he was satisfied with the quality of work done and according to specifications.
The Minister said: “I believe in quality jobs, and quality roads, and am impressed with the work on the major road linking the University to the outside world and the adjoining roads. I am quite impressed. I am delighted at the Town Hall building (Cross River Community Building) in the institution and admire it for being big and spacious and recommended that it be replicated in the entire Niger Delta Region.”‘
On the ongoing road construction in the institution that has been slowed down by the heavy rains, the Minister urged the Managing Director of the NDDC to ensure that the roads are completed as soon as the rains stop, assuring the Vice Chancellor of continued partnership between them and pledged to continue the delivery of quality jobs.
Speaking earlier, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Obi, appreciated the Minister for the visit and the Ministry of Niger Delta Development for all the support rendered to the University, equally commending the ministry for the projects so far executed and described the roads as durable, drains perfect and the size of the road commendable and exemplary.
