Hon Elvert Ayambem, repsenting Ikom II state constituency in the Cross River House of Assembly, has emerged as the Speaker of the House.
Elvert was elected unopposed on the floor of the House with Hon. Silvester Agabi, representing Obudu state constituency, as Deputy Speaker of the 10th Assembly.
Speaking on what he has for Cross Riverians shortly after his election, Hon. Elvert Ayambem, said: “I would be Speaker for all Cross Riverian. The House would cooperate with the government of the day.
“I and the leadership would stabilise the House and ensure the opposition members are carried along because they were also elected like me.
“I am only the first among equals. But in all the state shall expect a robust legislature where there would be mutual respect and relationship between the executive and lawmakers.
