A massive N100 billion investment is set to transform the Obudu Ranch Resort into a five-star facility, revolutionizing tourism in Cross River State.

Prince Ojoi Ekpenyong, Managing Director of the Cross River State Tourism Bureau, disclosed this while receiving the Best Nigeria Stand award at the 21st Akwaaba ceremony.

According to Prince Ekpenyong, the state government is finalizing a concession agreement with a private developer, which will be signed next week.

“By next week, we are going for that activity, where we will sign up that agreement, and about 100 billion naira will be invested in the Ranch,” he said.

The development aims to unlock the state’s vast tourism potential, showcasing its diverse attractions beyond the Obudu Ranch Resort.

“Cross River is not a mono-destination state; we have many tourism products to sell to the world,” Prince Ekpenyong added.

The state is also gearing up for bigger events, including a marathon and food festival, which will further boost tourism. Prince Ekpenyong appreciated the partnership with the Akwaaba team, led by Ikechi Uko, in driving the sector.

Ikechi Uko praised the state’s competent tourism team, citing their institutional memory, network, and capacity to deliver. He looked forward to greater collaboration with Cross River State.

The Obudu Ranch Resort is one of the prime tourism destinations in Cross River State located in the hills of Obanliku local government area.

However, the facility became a shadow of itself following successive years of neglect of mismanagement by previous administrations.
