Wahab said the state government strengthened the Monitoring, Enforcement and Compliance (MEC) operations of the ministry during the review period to ensure strict adherence to environmental regulations and sanitation standards.

He added that the state also evacuated more than 650 tonnes of construction waste while sustaining awareness campaigns on construction, demolition and disaster waste management through stakeholder engagement and collaboration with waste management partners.

Wahab further revealed that the Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency intensified environmental monitoring through the installation of modern air quality monitoring systems across Lagos.

According to him, LASEPA completed 114 installations of air quality sensors and rehabilitated air pollution abatement facilities to improve air quality management and reduce pollution across the state.

“The Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency successfully completed 114 installations of air quality sensors and the rehabilitation of air pollution abatement facilities across the state,” he stated.

The commissioner also disclosed that cleaner fish processing technology was introduced at Ago Egun to reduce smoke emissions and improve public health in the riverine community.

He explained that the deployment of improved fish kilns in Makoko had helped to enhance air quality and protect the health of local fish processors.

Wahab reaffirmed the commitment of the administration of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu to strengthening environmental compliance, deploying modern technology and intensifying enforcement efforts aimed at ensuring a cleaner and healthier Lagos.
