Commissioner of Police in Enugu State, Mamman Giwa, has pledged his commitment to professional, proactive, people-friendly and results-based policing in the state.
The commissioner made the pledge while receiving the Chairman of Ezeagu Local Government Area, Vita Ndu, and a delegation of retired security chiefs under the aegis of Eche Obodo Security Group of Enugu North Senatorial Zone.
Enugu state police public relations officer, SP Daniel Ndukwe, in a statement said that the state police boss received the visitors on Saturday in his office.
The commissioner expressed gratitude for the recognition and support by the people of the state to the police, which had ensured optimal performance.
“The command will remain committed to community-focused and collaborative policing that will ensure result.
“I call for the sustained partnership of citizens and stakeholders in enhancing the state’s security architecture as well as safety and security of all,” he said.
Earlier, Ndu commended the commissioner for his tireless efforts in maintaining law and order.
The council chairman particularly highlighted the swift response and support by the police during the recent kidnapping and ritual killing incident at Umuojor, Isiagu Umumba Autonomous Community in Ezeagu LGA.
Speaking, the Leader of Eche Obodo Security Group of Enugu North Senatorial Zone, Maj.-Gen. Godwin Ugwuoke (retired), emphasised the visible impacts of the commissioner’s leadership on policing in the state.
Ugwuoke, whose group is made up of retired security chiefs and officers, including military generals, commissioners, DSS directors and immigration comptrollers, lauded the commissioner’s achievements within a short period in office.
The visitors urged the commissioner to sustain the momentum in the fight against crime and pledged their continued support to the command’s efforts in improving security across the state.
