4 to die by hanging for killing pensioner in Ekiti

From Tony John, Port Harcourt

The High Court of Rivers State sitting in Port Harcourt has convicted and sentenced Mr. Eze  Kingsley to death by hanging, for the murder of Wagbara David.

David was gruesomely  murdered on  December 7,  2018,  at  house number :4 Rumumasi community along the East West, in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of the state.

The convict, who was standing trial on three counts of murder and infliction of grievous bodily harm, was reported to have used a sharp object to stab the deceased (David) leading to his death as confirmed by a doctor at University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital (UPTH).

On the day of the incident, an argument was reported to have ensued between Kingsley, who was a conductor of a petroleum tanker  and David, who ran a mortuary facility.

During the altercation,  David told the driver of the tanker, which had petroleum products, to remove the vehicle from his business place for the reason that the parking was obstructing his business.

Delivering judgement in the matter, the trial Judge, Justice Boma Diepiri,  held that the prosecution was able to prove all the ingredients of the body of evidence of murder beyond reasonable doubts and thereby convicted and sentenced Kingsley to death.

Justice Diepiri  in pronouncing the sentence against the convicted ruled that the convict should be hanged on his neck until he is confirmed dead and urged that his soul rest in peace.
