The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has vowed to challenge the recent court ruling affecting the party’s registration, expressing confidence that the judgment will be overturned by the Court of Appeal.

The party’s National Vice Chairman (South-South), Fred Owotorufa, made the declaration during an interview on ARISE News, insisting that the ruling was legally flawed and could not be sustained.

Owotorufa stated that the party has already assembled a team of lawyers to challenge the ruling at the Court of Appeal, expressing optimism that the appellate court would reverse the decision.

“We will challenge this unfortunate ruling at the Court of Appeal, and the party has assembled a team of lawyers to pursue the appeal,” Owotorufa stated.

The NDC chieftain described the judgment as unprecedented, arguing that it was inconsistent with established legal principles.

“We believe this ruling is unprecedented, cannot stand, and will be overturned,” he added.

According to him, the NDC secured its earlier court judgment through due legal process, rejecting any suggestion that the party obtained the ruling improperly.

“The NDC did not obtain its judgment by force. The court’s decision was based on the facts and evidence presented before it,” he said.

His comments come amid the legal battle over the party’s registration, with the NDC insisting that it remains committed to pursuing all available legal remedies while continuing preparations for the 2027 general elections.
