A Kano Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday ordered the remand of a 19-year-old student, Muhsin Balarabe, in the correctional centre for allegedly stabbing one Umar Lawan.
Balarabe, who lives at Tudun Yola Quarters Kano, is standing trial on a count charge of causing hurt on provocation.
The Prosecutor, Insp. Umar Tahir, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on July 28, at Tudun Yola Quarters, Kano.
He alleged that on that fateful day at about 10:30 p.m the defendant had a misunderstanding with Lawan and in the process the defendant stabbed him with a broken glass several times.
“As a result, he had injuries all over his body,” the prosecutor said.
According to the prosecutor, the offence contravened section 244 of the Penal Code.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The Magistrate ordered the remand of the defendant in the correctional centre.
Ibrahim also ordered the Controller of Kano State Prison to direct his Personnel to accompany the defendant to the venue where he is writing his National Examination Council (NECO) Exam.
He adjourned the matter until Aug.19, for hearing. (NAN)
