The National Industrial Court of Nigeria in Abuja has issued an interlocutory injunction directing workers under the Joint Union Action Committee (JUAC) to immediately suspend their ongoing strike.
Justice E.D. Subilim delivered the ruling on Tuesday in response to a suit filed by FCT Minister Nyesom Wike and the FCT Administration against JUAC Chairman Rifkatu Iortyer and Secretary Abdullahi Umar Saleh.
The case, marked NICN/ABJ/17/2026, seeks to restrain the unions from any industrial action, picketing, or lockout.

In his judgment, Justice Subilim noted that while the matter qualifies as a trade dispute under the law, workers’ right to strike is not absolute once referred to the court.
He emphasised that any ongoing strike must cease pending the full hearing.
“An order of interlocutory injunction is hereby granted, restraining the claimants and representatives… from further embarking on any industrial action against the claimant. The order shall remain in force, pending the determination of this suit,” Justice Subilim ruled.
The court has adjourned the substantive suit to March 23, 2026, for further hearing.
FCT workers, who embarked on the strike over unresolved welfare demands, now face compliance amid heightened tensions with the FCTA.
