A Federal High Court in Abuja has dismissed a suit seeking to disqualify the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Kwara State, Yakubu Danladi Salihu, from the 2027 election.

Justice Emeka Nwite, who presided over Court 9 of the Federal High Court, dismissed the suit, marked FHC/ABJ/CS/1112/2026, after holding that the plaintiff lacked the requisite legal standing to challenge Salihu’s nomination.

The court also considered the substance of the allegations and found that the claims made against the APC candidate were not sufficiently established by the evidence before it.

The plaintiff had challenged Salihu’s emergence as the APC governorship candidate, alleging that his participation in separate nomination exercises amounted to double nomination and consequently invalidated his candidacy.

But the court rejected the argument, holding that the circumstances presented before it did not establish a case warranting the nullification of Salihu’s nomination.

Justice Nwite therefore dismissed the suit and declined the reliefs sought by the plaintiff.

The court further awarded ₦10 million in costs against the plaintiff.
