Retired Assistant Director General of the Department of State Services (DSS), Mohammed Ngoshe, has urged Nigerians to exercise patience during rescue operations, saying security agencies require time and careful planning to successfully free victims of kidnapping and other terrorist attacks.
Speaking on Channels TV Morning Brief, Ngoshe cautioned against the growing tendency to demand immediate action whenever abductions occur, stressing that such public pressure does not reflect the realities of counter-terrorism operations.

According to him, rescue missions involve extensive intelligence gathering, coordination and strategic planning, making instant results unrealistic. He noted that if hostage rescues were as simple as many people assume, no Nigerian would remain in captivity.
“This practice of everybody calling for immediate action whenever something happens is not helping matters. It is not done like that. If it were that easy, no Nigerian would be in captivity for any reason,” he said.
Ngoshe added that security agencies invest significant effort in rescue operations and appealed to Nigerians to show greater understanding and confidence in the process while counter-terrorism efforts are ongoing.
