The Chairman of OrukAnam local government area, Hon Sunday Festus has commenced massive grading of rural roads across 16 wards in the area.
Speaking with Journalists in Uyo shortly after the flag off , the council chairman Hon Sunday Festus said the road grading in rural communities is aimed at driving rural development in the area.
Festus explained that the grading is executed in partnership
partnership with Alvard & Moore Services Limited to impact on the lives of residents in line with the administration’s commitment to delivering on its promises of rural development and accessibility.
During the flag-off ceremony at Ukpom Edem Inyang in Ward 9, the Chairman emphasized importance of improving rural infrastructure for economic growth and social development.
“The backbone of any thriving community is accessibility.
“We are committed to ensuring that no part of Oruk Anam is left behind. These roads will not only enhance transportation but also open up our villages to greater opportunities in trade, Agriculture, and other key sectors”
Festus assured residents that the road grading project would be comprehensive, reaching every ward in the local government.
He urged communities to support the initiative and maintain the roads after completion, especially with the yuletide season approaching.
“This administration is guided by the ASSURED agenda, by improving road access roads , we’re setting the foundation for sustainable development and ensuring residents have smooth access to their villages during the festive season.”
Responding to the initiative, the Councillor representing Ward 9, Hon. Aniefiok Jim, expressed gratitude to the Chairman for his visionary leadership.
“This project is a dream come true for our people, he said, “The challenges of moving goods and services, especially for our farmers, will soon be a thing of the past. This is a testament to the Chairman’s dedication to grassroots development.”
The council chairman is the first among all the 31 local government areas in the state to embark on such project in less than three months in office .
