Founder/CEO, Mobility, Aid and Appliances Research and Development Centre (MAARDEC), Mr. Cosmas Okoli, has cried to Inspector- General Of Police(IGP), over alleged  plan to kill him and wipe out his family by a powerful politician.

Mr. Okoli, said his travail started when he made a post  on the social media, urging members of the public to support Labour Party Presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi for the next month General Elections.

Okoli, said he didn’t know that exercising his political right was a crime,as he started receiving threats from an All Progressive Congress (APC) stalwart, who allegedly  vowed to eleminate him and run him out of Lagos.

In a petition to the IGP, Okoli wants the police boss to step in and save him from the hands of the politician, and his cohorts.

Okoli said: “I am constrained to inform the general public that I have received a threat from a well placed APC member, in response to my support for Peter Obi’s bid to be the president of Nigeria. I merely circulated a small write up urging support for Peter Obi as shown bellow.

“Fellow compatriots, history beckons on us all. Let us eschew personal interest, and join hands together to install a man who we (the people) can jointly hold accountable to our commonwealth. Peter Obi, is the hope we have in times like this! The people yearn for him. Let us bring him on.

“In response to this harmless message, a well placed Nigerian, now reacted with venom.

“His text to me is as  follows, “why don’t you hold him accountable for what he did when he was Anambra State Governor? When he invested State money in his family’s business. Please, if you continue like this, we will ensure we send you out of Lagos State comes June.”

However, in a swift reaction, Mr Anifowoshe, has denied any plans in the offings to eleminate Mr. Okoli or fight him.

He said: “Cosmas is my very good friend. Yes, we have been friends for over 16 years. We have done businesses together. I was only cracking a  joke with him. I didn’t know that he would take the joke seriously. I swear, I didn’t mean the response. I thought that he would respond that he would also send me packing when Obi wins.

“Please, I don’t think of killing him. Let him remember that we have been very good friends.

“Why should I kill someone that I will mourn? I am not planning any evil against him or his family.

“He only misconstrued me.I was just playing with him. I am not running him out of Lagos”.

In a petition to the IGP, through his legal practitioners, J k Nbanefo Ikwegbue, and Daniel Onwe of Pelican Attorneys, they stated that,” our client is a Nigerian, of Igbo extraction, who resides, and does business in Amuwo Odofin, Lagos, and has lived in Lagos for over 30 years, contributing his  quota to the development and prosperity of Lagos. It is our brief that Mr Oluomo Alade Anifowoshe, has threatened the life of our client, simply because, our client expressed his political opinion which did not go down well with Mr Anifowoshe .

“Our client gathered from the Grape Vine, that there is  an underground plan to kill him, and grievously harm anyone, particularly those from the Igbo extraction, who reside in Lagos, but do not support the APC presidential candidate, this is very unfortunate, and troubling development. Section 42 of the constitution provides that no one should be discriminated against, not to talk of killed, or even harmed on an account of his political opinion. “Section 39 of the constitution, gives every citizen the freedom to express his/her opinion including political opinion. We are bringing this complaint to your attention so that you can use your good office to take proactive action, to investigate the threat of Mr Anifowoshe, and his cohorts, and nip in the bud,any plot to kill or maim our client, and order persons that may knowingly or unknowingly be in similar danger as we approach 2023 General Elections”.
