COPESA launches Phase 1 of SDGs 2030 Initiatives in Africa

The Centre In a significant milestone for sustainable development in Africa, the Coalition of People Empowerment for Sustainable Action (COPESA) unveiled its SDGs 2030 Initiatives Foundation Phase 1 blueprints.

The event, held in Lagos, marked a historic occasion as the organisation presented its plans to the world, including the United Nations, seeking urgent review and support for the ambitious project aimed at transforming the continent by 2030 and beyond.

Olufemi Oladejo, lead coordinator and signatory for the African Working Committee of local households and non-profit organizations in Africa, delivered a stirring welcome address.

He emphasized the significance of this initiative, which began in 2000, in activating meaningful household concepts on the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Africa.

“Since 2000, we have embarked on an incredible journey to activate meaningful household concepts on MDGs and SDGs in Africa. This has been achieved through partnerships with global SDG actors, government entities, corporate firms, individuals, and friends of Africa who share our passion for humanitarian work. Our goal is to redefine the African continent and improve the livelihoods of global citizens.”

“We will facilitate record-breaking dissemination sessions, open dialogues, partnerships, and collaborations on sustainable development localization.”

The COPESA SDGs 2030 Initiatives Foundation Phase 1 will implement sustainable activities centered on health, education, agriculture, gender equality, peaceful coexistence, and the importance of global partnerships for SDG localiza

Ugoh Clinton, an alumnus of the Tony Elumelu Foundation (TEF), emphasized the importance of economic empowerment and partnerships to achieve SDG goals.

He encouraged participants to leverage TEF’s resources for entrepreneurship and vocational training.

The involvement of International NGOs like  ACADEC Canada and JB Dondolo Incorporation with a strong commitment to development in Africa are sponsors of the programme.

These two NGOs will lead local households and NGOs in achieving SDG localization in Africa towards 2030 and beyond.
