A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Dr. Davidson Nnajiofor Nnamani has tasked both the national and state Assemblies to ensure the inclusion of local government areas autonomy in the on-going constitutional amendments.

He stated that “it is only the full autonomy of local area councils that can bring about effective grassroots developments in the country.

“The states are stifling the local governments and until their grips on the councils are lifted, there will be no meaningful developments in the rural areas.”

Dr Nnamani, a former governorship aspirant of the Labour Party in Enugu State in last 2023 general election stated this in Ikem, the headquarters of Isi Uzo Local Government Area while addressing All Progressives Congress, (APC) faithful on his return journey to the party.

Dr Nnamani who holds doctorate degree in Defence and Strategic Studies from the Nigerian Defence Academy, was a founding member of APC in Isi Uzo and indeed Enugu State before his defection to Labour Party last year.

The Isi Uzo LGA chairman of the party, Mr. Paul Olinya and the chairman of Ikem Ward 1, expressed delight at Dr Nnamani’s return, stressing that he was not just a founding member but one of the strong pillars of APC in Enugu State.
