Condemnations have continued to trail the defection of Dr Wale Bolorunduro, an ally of the former Governor of Osun state and Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola, to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Bolorunduro who was the Commissioner for Finance during Aregbesola’s administration, Wednesday announced his defection to the PDP.
In a video of the press conference obtained by our correspondent, Bolorunduro said his defection was not to seek a state cabinet position, saying that he has contributed his quota to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
He said, “having served at the statutory level of the state, as the former commissioner of finance, it is no longer my wish to offer myself for a state cabinet position in any administration of the state, so let no one make a mistake or an insinuation about my current compulsion to resign my membership of APC and to join the People Democratic Party (PDP).
“I have been in APC for eight years (after I left office) without any patronage, benefits or appointment, yet I worked for the party in the 2015 and 2019 federal elections. I can survive outside government and very well too.”
Reacting to the detection of Bolorunduro, one Oyedele Omogbolahan said “some politicians don’t have a conscience. Is it now you deemed it fit ti jump ship from your defeated party to a victorious one?
Another person on Facebook, Taiwo Agbonmagbe wrote: “What is up, hope is not the fear of likely probe by the incoming administration?
Also, Harbey Salenco wrote: “useless set of people, they will spoil one party and jump to another one. This madness has to stop in Nigeria.
However, Olutola Bolorunduro who was said to be a younger brother to the ex-commissioner said his brother was on his own, saying “My decisions are based on performance of Oyetola which I’m entitled to anyway. My convictions to go with Oyetola is very much intact from the day I resolved to go with him and work for APC victory at the Gubernatorial poll. Till now my resolve is till firm and intact for Oyetola and APC. My focus now is the general election for my party, APC.”
