Coleman Technical Industries Limited marked this year’s Workers’ Day with a strong message from its Managing Director, Mr. George Onafowokan, who credited the company’s workforce as the driving force behind its five decades of success.

Speaking during the May 1 celebration, Onafowokan said the company’s golden jubilee milestone was a testament to the resilience, dedication, and hard work of its employees over the years.

He described the occasion as both a celebration of labour and a moment of reflection on the journey that has taken Coleman from its modest beginnings to a leading player in its industry.

“Coleman at 50 has been made possible by all the workers who worked tirelessly to achieve this milestone,” he said. “We celebrate you all, and you continue to make us proud. Happy Labour Day to all workers.”

The Managing Director emphasised that the company’s growth story is inseparable from the commitment of its staff, noting that their contributions have remained consistent across generations.

According to him, Coleman’s management has long recognised that investing in people is critical to sustaining business success, a philosophy that has shaped its policies and operations.

“Over the years, we have consistently explored better ways to improve the lives of our workers, which is fundamental to any business,” Onafowokan stated.

He pointed to practical initiatives introduced by the company, including free transportation for employees over the past four to five years, aimed at easing daily commuting challenges.

The MD stressed that such welfare programmes are not mere perks but essential components of a broader strategy to build a motivated and productive workforce.

Beyond welfare, Onafowokan said Coleman has sought to foster a culture of teamwork and shared purpose, which he described as central to its longevity.

“Coleman is not only pushing the boundaries of what we can achieve in cable manufacturing, but also redefining what we can give back to our employees,” he said.

He was quick to dismiss the notion of success being tied to individual leadership, instead highlighting collective effort as the company’s defining strength. “Our success is not about one individual at the top, but about teamwork and a shared vision,” he added.

Looking ahead, Onafowokan assured employees that the company would continue to prioritise their welfare, promising further improvements in working conditions and benefits.

Founded in 1975 in Lagos State before relocating to Ogun State, Coleman Technical Industries has grown steadily over the years, with its workforce remaining at the heart of its achievements and future ambitions.
