Ishienu Amofu Peoples Assembly, Nkerefi, an association  of progressive minds in  Enugu State has condemned  attempts by a section of people in the community to convince the community that election was held for igweship position.

In a statement by the association, it noted that “we observed with amusement, several attempts by a section of people in the community who have been going about peddling lies in an attempt to convince some gullible people  that an election was held to choose an Igwe for the community”.

In  a statement by Prince I O Ezeoha, for the association, it noted that, “We are not surprised at this vain attempt to impose someone  on our people without  due process.

“This is not the first time and certainly  won’t be the last time the group  will try to test our will to elect an Igwe as a united community, but one thing we can assure them and the general public is that the harder they come, the harder they fall.

“Anyone trying to impose an unelected Igwe on Ndi Ishienu Amofu will fail, as we will never accept a self-imposed Igwe on our people.

“Our Igwe must emerge through a free,  fair and transparent election so that we may have a man rich in the qualities required of an Igwe to reign over us”.
