Funeral services of Oyibo Chukwu, an erstwhile Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) chairman in Enugu State, who was assassinated last February 22 while campaigning to become the Enugu East senator on the Labour Party (LP) ticket, will be held on December 8 and 9.
Though the family has not publicly spoken on the funeral arrangements, authoritative sources have confirmed to our correspondent that the burial will be held for two days in his hometown of Amuri in Nkanu West Local Government Area of Enugu State.
Chukwu, who served as the national auditor of the defunct Social Democratic Party (SDP) in the Third Republic from 1992 to 93 and later became the Enugu State secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) with the dawn of the Fourth Republic from 1999, was returning from a family meeting in his hometown when he was gunned down in Amechi Awkunanaw in Enugu South council three days to the nationwide senatorial election.
