The City of Nairobi, Kenya, was agog recently when the 2024 edition of Africa’s Next Super Model competition held its grand finale.

The event which was held at the Broadwalk Mall, saw 18 talented contestants from across the continent vying for the coveted title.

The runway queen and star girl of African fashion, Chol Nyang emerged the winner. She walked away with a cash prize of $5,000 and the opportunity to represent Africa on the global fashion stage. Magdalene Takanyiro, another top finalist, will join Nyang in Milan in February 2025.

The competition, now in its second year, is the brainchild of Joan Okorodudu, CEO of Isis Models Africa. Okorodudu’s vision is to position Nairobi as a global fashion hub and to empower young African talents.

The event was graced by several notable figures, including Timothy Owase, CEO of the Kenya Film Commission, and Dr. Ezekiel Mutua, CEO of the Music Copyright Society of Kenya. Both expressed their support for the modeling industry and its potential to contribute to the creative economy.

Isis Models Africa has already made significant strides in the global fashion industry, with several models from previous competitions signed by international agencies in Paris, New York, and London.
