Kebbi State Government has declared it’s intention to punish and sanction any parents who overstepped on the child rights and violated their privileges.
State Governor, Dr Nasir Idris who stated this at the Haliru Abdul Stadium, Birnin Kebbi during this year Children day celebration, noted that the government would not tolerate anybody denying the children their rights.
Idris,who was represented by the Deputy Governor, Senator Umar Abubakar,said that the foundation of the current administration was laid on the education and children are the main focuses.
According to him, ” rationale behind the celebration of children’s day is largely to create awareness that is, to appreciate their indispensable roles because they are the future of the society.
“Parents,teachers, guardians and other education stakeholders are therefore reminder that, children have the rights and privileges that must be protected and promoted by all.
“And anyone overstepped on these rights will be sanctions accordingly”, he said.
The Governor insisted that all the children irrespective of their sex, gender, physically challenged , have the rights to be educated,stressed that, nobody should denied them their rights.
He disclosed that to improve the standard of education in the state,his administration have continue to renovate classrooms across the state and directed the immediate employment of 2,000 teachers in the state.
Idris urged all the stakeholders to continue to support the rights of the children and appealed to the children too to shun all social vices.
Earlier,the Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education,Dr. Halima Bande noted that the celebration of Children’s day was a reminder to be a promoter of child rights and privileges.
She noted that the current administration through her Ministry, have captured all the students across the state in it’s Biometric Data, to ensure effective decision on issues relating to feeding and examination.
Bande commended the Governor for the advance payment of 2024 WAEC for all students across the state ,stressed that,it will make the students to write their examination with ease.
She urged the parents to inculcate good values to their children while teachers should revive the reading culture in their students at all levels as well be committed to quality education.
“As for the students,you should be good citizens and must importantly,be a responsible indigenes and good ambassadors of Kebbi State wherever you found yourselves”.
