Popular Nigerian singer, Chike has disclosed his mother’s marital advise to him, saying she told him not to marry someone who does not offer value to his life, regardless of love.

In a recent interview with Ada’s Room podcast, Chike revealed that his mother warned him not to marry from a poor household or settle with an unemployed woman.

The 33-year-old explained that according to his mother, marrying from a poor family or marrying a lady whose family members are financially dependent on is a financial burden.

“I think everybody should look for a partner that has value. Personally, my mum advised me never to settle down with a woman who doesn’t have a source of livelihood regardless of love,” he said.

The singer added, “She also told me never to marry someone with the baggage of family responsibilities, especially a firstborn that is not productive.”

Chike stated that he frequently questions women to determine whether they come from comfortable households and are industrious before proposing a relationship.

He recommended men to think beyond sex and consider other criteria before engaging into relationships, especially those with possibilities for marriage.
