In a significant step towards shaping the future of digital education in Nigeria, Chidi Duru, Co-founder of Codeant Technology Hub, has announced the launch of 50 Code Clubs across Imo, Abia, and Enugu States, with the support of the Raspberry Pi Foundation’s Code Club pilot project.
The initiative aims to equip children aged 7 to 17 with essential coding, robotics, and AI skills, empowering them to become creators of technology rather than just consumers of it. Through these clubs, kids will gain hands-on experience in designing games, building apps, and developing innovative solutions to real-world problems.
Commenting on the transformative impact of the project, Mr. Michael, a local community leader, observed: “When Chidi participated in the Raspberry Pi Foundation’s pilot program, we witnessed firsthand how transformative Code Clubs can be for kids. Many children in Nigeria are bright and curious but lack access to structured opportunities to learn coding.”
Mrs. Ifeoma, an educator with over 20 years of experience, praised the initiative’s potential reach: “By setting up these 50 Code Clubs, we’re giving children the platform, tools, and mentorship they need to explore, create, and thrive in today’s digital world. This is exactly what our educational system needs.”
Through Codeant Technology Hub, Duru has consistently championed digital literacy and STEM education for kids across Nigeria. To date, Codeant has trained over 5,000 children in coding, robotics, and AI, organized impactful bootcamps, partnered with schools, and created opportunities for learners to showcase their innovations on local and global stages.
The 50 Code Clubs will serve as safe learning spaces where young people can discover their passion for technology, collaborate with peers, and gain practical skills that prepare them for future careers in the digital economy. Each club will follow a hands-on learning approach, utilizing resources from the Raspberry Pi Foundation in conjunction with Codeant’s tailored curriculum to address local learning needs.
Chidi Duru believes that this effort is not just about teaching coding but building a pipeline of future innovators who can contribute to Nigeria’s growth in the global tech ecosystem.
This groundbreaking initiative represents more than just an educational program—it’s a strategic investment in Nigeria’s digital future. By establishing these 50 Code Clubs across the southeastern states, Chidi Duru and Codeant Technology Hub are creating a sustainable ecosystem that will nurture young minds for years to come. The project promises to bridge the digital divide, democratize access to technology education, and cultivate a new generation of innovators who will drive Nigeria’s emergence as a leading force in the global technology landscape. Through this vision, the youngest talents in Imo, Abia, and Enugu States are poised to become the architects of tomorrow’s digital solutions.
