Super Eagles goalkeeper, Chiamaka Nnadozie has been shortlisted as one of the top 10 candidates for the prestigious 2025 International Federation of Football History and Statistics (IFFHS) Women’s World Best Goalkeeper award.

The 24-year-old, who plays for Brighton & Hove Albion in England’s Women’s Super League, is the only African nominee in the category.

Nnadozie joined Brighton in the summer of 2025 after a successful stint with French club Paris FC.

Her nomination comes on the heels of a stellar year, including being named the Best Goalkeeper at the 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, where the Falcons won a record-extending 10th title, and winning the Coupe de France Féminine title with Paris FC in June.

Additionally, Nnadozie became the first Nigerian and African goalkeeper to be nominated for the Women’s Yachine Trophy, finishing fourth in the rankings announced in September 2025.

She is also shortlisted for the CAF Women’s Goalkeeper of the Year award, where she is favored to secure a record third consecutive win.

In the WSL, she earned a nomination for the October Barclays Save of the Month for an impressive stop against Tottenham Hotspur.

The IFFHS award, established in 1987, honors the best performers in various football categories based on performances from January to December of the calendar year.

Winners are determined through votes from an international jury of sports journalists and football experts from over 120 countries. The 2025 results, including the Women’s Best Goalkeeper, are set to be announced in December.

Last year’s winner was Alyssa Naeher of the United States.

Nnadozie faces stiff competition from nine other elite goalkeepers:

– Ann-Katrin Berger (Germany / Gotham FC)
– Cata Coll (Spain / FC Barcelona)
– Hannah Hampton (England / Chelsea)
– Christiane Endler (Chile / Olympique Lyonnais)
– Daphne van Domselaar (Netherlands / Arsenal)
– Katharine Tapia (Colombia / Palmeiras)
– Lorena Leite (Brazil / Kansas City Current)
– Phallon Tullis-Joyce (USA / Manchester United)
– Jennifer Falk (Sweden / BK Häcken)
