Lagos State Deputy Governor, Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, has urged Nigerian youths to place character above personality and combine faith with discipline, integrity and responsibility in their pursuit of success.
Hamzat said Nigeria needed a generation of young people who would deploy their talents and values not only to advance themselves but also improve their communities and contribute meaningfully to national development.
He spoke at the annual youth programme of The Lord’s Chosen Charismatic Revival Ministries, tagged, “The Youth That Knows the Lord,” at the church’s headquarters in Ijesha, Lagos.
The deputy governor, who attended the two-day programme with his entourage, urged young Nigerians to resist the temptation to compromise their values in pursuit of wealth, popularity or personal advancement.
“Nigeria needs a generation that would succeed personally and also deploy their talents and values to improve their communities and contribute to national development,” Hamzat said.
He challenged the youths to speak the truth, reject violence and dishonesty and become agents of positive change in their communities.
According to him, a generation grounded in strong character and values was essential to building a better Nigeria.
“Young people who insist that leadership is about service, not privilege. Your faith must shape the way you participate in society as well,” he said.

Hamzat said the Lagos State Government remained committed to providing education, skills development, employment pathways and other opportunities for young people to thrive.
He, however, stressed that government intervention alone could not instil the character necessary for responsible citizenship.
“Government can create opportunities; it cannot create character. That responsibility belongs to all of us — families, schools, communities, faith institutions and, ultimately, the young people themselves,” he said.
The deputy governor also urged youths to participate actively and responsibly in the democratic process by interrogating issues, asking questions and making informed electoral choices.
He particularly charged them to reject violence, intimidation and vote-buying during elections.
Hamzat commended the General Overseer of The Lord’s Chosen Charismatic Revival Ministries, Pastor Lazarus Muoka, for what he described as his commitment to the spiritual and moral development of Nigerian youths.
Responding, Muoka prayed for Nigeria and its leaders, including President Bola Tinubu and Hamzat, asking God to grant them wisdom and guidance.
“The Church appreciates your visit today, especially to our youths. We pray that God Almighty will continue to guide you,” Muoka said.
