Adebayo Badeji, a seasoned academic and film production designer, has shared insights into the formidable challenges and triumphs faced during the production of Bolanle Austen-Peters’ ‘House of Gaa’.

One significant hurdle was the unpredictable weather, which delayed progress and created potential safety hazards.

The location exposed the team to wildlife, presenting safety concerns.

Badeji explained that they conducted thorough risk assessments, provided wildlife awareness training, and implemented strict safety protocols to protect team members.

“Insects like mosquitoes posed additional challenges, as they were both a nuisance and a health risk.” The team combated this by providing protective gear, protective clothing, and fumigating the site at intervals.

Going further, he shared, “The unique visual requirements of the project encouraged me to think outside conventional design paradigms, resulting in some of my most original and satisfying work to date.”

With an impressive educational background, an M.A. in Performing Arts from the University of Ilorin and currently pursuing a Ph.D., Badeji has built a diverse career that spans production design, set decoration, lighting, and art direction across multiple platforms, including film, television, theater, and live events.
