Global energy leaders, policymakers and industry executives are set to gather in CERAWeek organised by S&P Global, which begins Monday (today) in Houston,Texas with heightened expectations around energy security, market stability and the future of the energy transition.
The 2026 annual conference, widely regarded as one of the most influential gatherings in the global energy calendar, will bring together top executives from international oil companies, government officials, financial institutions, and technology providers to deliberate on the theme:”Convergence and Competition: Energy, Technology and Geopolitics”.
Other key themes expected to dominate discussions include geopolitical tensions impacting oil supply, energy transition pathways, investment in upstream projects, and the role of emerging markets in balancing global energy demand.
This year’s edition comes at a time of heightened volatility in global oil markets, driven by ongoing geopolitical conflicts and supply disruptions.
Analysts expect robust conversations around price stability, supply chain resilience, and the strategic importance of refining capacity, issues particularly relevant to energy-importing and producing nations alike.
Nigeria is expected to feature prominently at the conference, with a delegation comprising government officials, regulators, and private sector players. Industry observers anticipate that Nigerian representatives will use the platform to showcase recent reforms in the oil and gas sector, including efforts to attract investment following the implementation of the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA).
