A 21-day fasting and prayer has been declared by members of the Catholic Charismatic Renewal of Nigeria (CCRN), Jesus is Love Prayer Group of the Sacred Heart parish, Akwakuma in Owerri North L.G.A of Imo State, to seek the divine grace of God towards spiritual upliftment as well as socio-economic and political wellbeing of the people in the year 2023.
The programmeg, tagged, “Beginning the year with Jesus”, with the theme, Divine Overflow, will draw participants from various Christian denominations across the state and beyond, and will hold at the Catholic Church premises from 6pm to 8pm daily.
Besides fasting and praying during the exercise, participants are expected to engage in charity, self-denials and humble lifestyles geared toward attracting God’s protection and provision for a fruitful and successful year as well as seeking His intervention on the abnormities that have bedeviled the state and the country especially during last year, like the prevalent insecurity, killings, kidnapping, economic hardships etc. In addition, it is a period of spiritual rearmament for members of the prayer group to equip themselves with the authority to work in God’s divine mandate for soul winning as well as a spiritual exercise, to usher in peace and bring down God’s hand on the nation in the election of credible and God-fearing leaders who will lead the oppressed people of the land through the red sea,
According to a statement from the Public Relations Officer of the prayer group, Brother Nna Ekweaga, the 21-day programme, which will begin on 30th of January, will feature worship, praises, adorations, salvation, healing, breakthrough, deliverance, testimony etc.
The statement further disclosed that about 21 inspirational and motivational preachers, including fiery and vocal catholic priests have been lined up to preach, pray and speak on various sub-themes and topics at the event, including the host parish priest, Very Rev. Fr. Dr. Kevin C. Ugoamadi, Rev. Fr Stephen Odoh, Rev. Fr. Eustace C. Nwanekwu Rev. Fr. David Nwankwo and Rev. Fr. Bede Nwalozie. The event is expected to climax in a feast to break the fast on the February 19 2023 and members of the public are invited to participate in it.
As part of activities to sensitize the public on the slated programme, members of the prayer group will embark on two-day outreach exercise with their fliers and band in the capital city of Owerri and environs on 28 and 29 of the month.
