The Catholic Bishop of Makurdi Diocese, His Lordship, Bishop Wilfred Anagbe, has taken over as Chairman, Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Benue State chapter.
He takes over from Pastor Augustine Akpen Leva whose tenure began in 2016 and ended April 15, 2023.
Speaking during the handover, Governor Samuel Ortom praised the leadership qualities of the outgoing CAN Chairman, Rev Akpen Leva, who he said worked tirelessly in keeping the church together over the years.
“As a Christian, for the past 40 years, this is the first time, under Akpen Leva, that the church is working together and today we are having a seamless handover.”
He prayed God to promote him in other aspect of his pastoral work and in his relationship with the people.
Ortom also extolled the virtues of the new CAN Chairman, Bishop Anagbe, just as he commended his love for Christ, the Church, for evangelism and standing tall in promoting the work of Christ and making milestones since he became the Bishop of Makurdi Diocese.
