Popular Abuja car dealer, Al Amin Sarkinmota of Sarkin Mota Autos has threatened to institute a N2 billion defamation lawsuit against a blogger who accused him of selling damaged cars.
Sarkinmota issued the threat on Wednesday in response to an X post by one @femzydr1.
The post claimed Sarkin Mota Autos had been invited by Nigeria Customs Service for questioning for importing ‘accidental’ cars into Nigeria from the United States illegally.
The April 1 post further claimed Customs had received several reports of user complaints about Sarkin Mota’s vehicles from the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC).
But in a response via his X handle, @SarkinMota_AMF, the car dealer described the post as “false, damaging, and completely unacceptable”.
He gave the blogger 24 hours to retract the statement or risk being slammed with a N2 billion defamation suit.
Sarkinmota said, “Your statement is false, damaging, and completely unacceptable.
“You have 24 hours from this moment to publicly retract your statement and issue a clear apology across the same platforms it was made. I have spent years building my brand, my reputation, and my name with integrity and hard work. I will not stand by and allow it to be tarnished by reckless and defamatory claims.
“Failure to comply within this timeframe will leave me with no option but to take immediate legal action against you to the tune of ₦2,000,000,000 for criminal defamation.
“This is not a threat, it is a commitment to protect what I have built.”
