Ambassador Otto Canon, a globally recognised sustainability leader, healthcare innovator, and visionary impact entrepreneur, has been honoured as one of Africa’s 100 Most Notable Africans at the 100 Most Notable Africans Leadership and Business Summit 2026 held in Marrakech, Morocco. The prestigious recognition celebrates outstanding African leaders whose work continues to transform lives, drive innovation, and contribute to the sustainable development of the continent and beyond.
Originally from Nigeria and now based in London, Ambassador Otto Canon has dedicated more than a decade to advancing sustainability, healthcare innovation, and environmental stewardship. As the founder of CleanCyclers and GreenPlace Healthcare, he has led initiatives spanning environmental restoration, sustainability advocacy, recycling, healthcare delivery, medical logistics, and youth mentorship. Through his UK ambulance service, his team has safely transported over 50,000 patients, while his specialist medical logistics company has successfully transported more than 17,000 reproductive cells and life-changing medical materials across the globe, helping families access fertility treatment safely and securely.
He is also the convener of the Global Sustainability Summit & Awards, hosted annually at the House of Lords in the UK Parliament, which has brought together more than 10,000 world leaders, policymakers, investors, innovators, entrepreneurs, and sustainability champions to accelerate collective action towards a more sustainable future.
Receiving the award, Ambassador Otto Canon described the recognition as both an honour and a renewed responsibility to continue serving humanity. He said the values instilled in him by his late father, Late Major Dr. E. O. Otto, have remained the guiding light throughout his life and continue to shape his commitment to service, integrity, compassion, and leadership.
He noted that those principles inspired him to dedicate his life to making the world a better place for both people and the planet—from environmental activism and sustainability advocacy to healthcare innovation, mentorship, and building platforms that inspire global collaboration. He reaffirmed his commitment to raising an army of sustainability champions across the world who will work tirelessly to restore ecosystems, protect communities, and secure a healthier, more sustainable future for generations to come.
Ambassador Otto Canon dedicated the recognition to his late father, whose legacy of discipline, selfless service, and unwavering commitment to humanity continues to inspire every aspect of his work. He also expressed gratitude to his family, colleagues, partners, volunteers, and the countless individuals and organisations who have supported his journey over the years.
The recognition places Ambassador Otto Canon among a distinguished group of African leaders, innovators, entrepreneurs, and changemakers whose work continues to shape Africa’s future and strengthen the continent’s contribution to global sustainable development.
