The Naija Market Day Calgary event held on Sunday once again proven the incredible demand for vibrant cultural showcases and community-driven commerce. Building on the resounding successes of Naija Market Days in Winnipeg and Brandon, this event brought together over 70 vendors and attracted thousands of attendees, uniting the Nigerian and wider Canadian community in celebration of culture, entrepreneurship and diversity.

Modelled after a traditional Nigerian open-air market, the event was a lively hub of activity, featuring vendors offering an array of goods, including authentic African cuisine, handmade crafts, fashion and more. The day was highlighted by guest appearances from Doc ZO and renowned medical practitioner and Calgary’s finest MC Sam Precious, who kept the energy high and the crowd engaged throughout the event.
The market attracted an extraordinary turnout, with community members from all walks of life joining to celebrate and support local businesses. The event served as a cultural bridge, fostering connections between the Nigerian diaspora and the wider Canadian community.
“We are thrilled by the overwhelming response and participation at Naija Market Day Calgary,” said Abiodun Adetu, the Naija Market Day conveyor. “The success of this event underscores the importance of creating spaces that celebrate diversity, promote local entrepreneurship and bring communities together. Calgary’s enthusiasm is a testament to the growing appreciation for cultural events like these,” she said.
Naija Market Day Calgary would not have been possible without the support of the amazing sponsors like Naijapreneur Canada, Blaaiz, RBC, Amari Puri, Moriel, AfriEx, Kara Development Foundation saladmaster cookware, vendors, volunteers, and the local community who came out in record numbers. As the Naija Market Day movement continues to expand across Canada, it sets an inspiring example of how culture and commerce can converge to create meaningful impact.
Speaking on behalf of NaijapreneurCanada, Naija Market Day’s media partner, Shalewa Onayemi expressed her excitement: “This initiative is a testament to the innovation and resilience of African entrepreneurs.
