Cadets should be screened for mental stability, Emir urges Police Academy

The Emir of Kano, Aminu Ado Bayero, has enjoined the management of the Nigeria Police Academy, Wudil, Kano to screen prospective cadets for mental and psychological stability, before admitting them into the Academy.
The monarch made the plea on Friday during a courtesy call on his palace by the management of the Nigeria Police Academy,  Wudil led by AIG Sadiq Abubakar.
According to him, certificates and paper qualifications were not enough to measure those eligible for admission ñ into the Academy, going by the kind of services the officers render to the society.
He charged them to, “Always verify the character and conduct of police cadets before offering them admission into the Academy.”
He explained that the measure had become necessary, in order to ensure that only cadets, with good conduct were  enlisted into the Police.
He added that the palace has designed modalities of verifying character and habit of candidates seeking admission into the Academy before recommending them for admission into the Academy.
In his remarks, the Commandant explained that they were in the palace to seek the Emi2rs blessings and prayers for the growth and development of the Academy.
 Abubakar also seized the opportunity to commiserate with³ Emir Aminu Ado Bayero, over the death of Shiekh Abubakar Imam Galandanchi, in-law to his younger brother, the Emir of Bichi, His Highness, Nasiru Ado Bayero.
The Commandant who said that discipline and sanity were the watchwords of the Academy, pledged that the institution will always ensure that those gaining admission into the Academy are of good conduct.
