From Paul Osuyi, Asaba
Daughter of former Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan of Delta State, Orode, was among the 26 names of commissioner nominees forwarded to the state House of Assembly for screening by Governor Sheriff Oborevwori on Wednesday.
Uduaghan was governor between 2007 and 2015 on the platform of the People Democratic Party (PDP). He left the party in 2018 in futile pursuit of senatorial ambition on the platform of the All Progressive Congress.
The ex-governor returned to the party and tacitly supported Oborevwori in the last election.
Other names forwarded to the House were those of former commissioners in the immediate past administration, Fidelis Tilije, Charles Aniagwu, Rose Ezewu, Darlington Ijeh and Dr. Kingsley Ashibuogwu.
Also in the list are: Odinigwe Odigle Daniel, Onyemachi Ada-Anioma, Jerry Ehiwario, Michael Ifeanyi Anoka, Pat Ajudua, Funyei Manager, Godknows Angele, Dr. Joseph Onojaeme and Emamusi Obiodeh.
Others are, Perez Omoun, Isaac Tosan Wilkie, Agbateyimiro Weyinmi,
Samuel Oligida, Prof. Tonukari Johnbull, Etagherure Ejiro Terry, Jamani Tommy Ejiro, Onoriode Agofure, Izeze Reuben, Vincent Oyibode and Sonny Akporokiamo Ekedayen.
In a letter containing the names of the nominees, the governor said the appointment was in exercise of the powers conferred on him by Section 192 (2) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, (1999 as Amended).
“I will greatly appreciate if early action is taken to place the names of the nominees before the Honourable House for consideration and confirmation to enable me effect their appointments in line with the Constitution”, the letter read.
