Nigerian music icon Innocent Idibia, popularly known as 2Baba or Tuface, has stirred fresh debate in the Afrobeats scene, naming Burna Boy as the country’s leading artist ahead of Davido and Wizkid.
Speaking on the Mic On Podcast, hosted by Seun Okinbaloye and shared on X on Sunday, 2Baba shared his perspective on Nigeria’s current generation of superstars, emphasising Burna Boy’s musical dominance.
“I have my favourite songs from each of them, from all three,” he said. “But if I must be put on the spot, I think Burna is on a different level right now.”
The ‘African Queen’ crooner was quick to stress that comparisons between artists are often unfair, likening each musician to a painter creating unique works of art.

“This is not about personal success or bank accounts. Different artists have different styles and appeal to different audiences,” 2Baba explained.
“From what I can measure in terms of music influence and global reach, Burna is currently at the top, not just in Nigeria, but in Africa and across the world. That said, everyone is doing fantastically well.”
Burna Boy, Davido, and Wizkid have long been regarded as the top three in Nigerian Afrobeats, often sparking debates among fans over who is the country’s leading artist.
2Baba’s remarks are expected to add fresh fuel to the ongoing conversation about Afrobeats’ global impact.
