Buhari calls on UN, others to send aids to Pakistani flood victims

President Muhammadu Buhari had appealed to the United Nations and other Aid Agencies to take urgent steps to assist victims of the Pakistani flood that are without shelter and food as well as the millions who require urgent humanitarian relief.

Recall the government of Pakistan had declared devastating floods a “national emergency” after nearly 1,000 people died and more than 30 million are badly affected as the rains continue to poor down the South Asian nation.

According to a statement by Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, extended sympathies for the sea-like flooding of Pakistan, the worst natural disaster in the country’s history.
He noted that the floods have damaged half-a-million homes, affecting about 30 million people, killing above 1,000. The floods have washed away hundreds of roads, bridges and other infrastructure.

President Buhari said Pakistan and its population are in the thoughts and prayers of Nigerians as they confront this humanitarian disaster of epic proportions.
