Ahead of the World Athletics Championship in Budapest, the Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN) will unveil Team Nigeria athletes to Hungary on August 5, 2023.
Daily Sun Sport/SportingSun enquiries revealed that the AFN has set up a meeting with the Sports Ministry and may likely release the list after the meeting.
It was gathered that the list would have been made known earlier but for late qualification of the nation’s relay team.
Late Thursday, the quartet of Ashe Favour, Kanyinsola Ajayi, Alaba Akintola and Godson Brume finished in 38.26 seconds to secure the ticket for the championship in Asaba, Delta State after several attempts failed.
The 19th edition of the 2023 World Athletics Championships is scheduled to be held from August 19 to August 27, 2023, in Budapest, Hungary.
Over 2,000 athletes coming from more than 200 countries, including Nigeria will compete in the Hungarian capital in front of hundreds of thousands of fans and captivating a global audience of more than a billion viewers.
