The Allied People’s Movement (APM) and its gubernatorial candidate, Adekunle Akinlade, has rejected the election results so far announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The campaign Director-General of the APM, Sarafa Tunji Ishola, who spoke alongside Akinlade at the party’s secretariat at Leme, Abeokuta, alleged that the election was manipulated.
According to Ishola, the gubernatorial election which began peacefully on Saturday was allegedly hijacked by hoodlums and “unidentified unformed men” during collation and further manipulated the results in favour of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
He added that APM had petitioned INEC in the state to investigate the “infractions” and stop announcement of results forthwith.
Ishola said despite the complaints highlighted in the petition, the INEC went ahead to announce the results.
He, however, said the APM has rejected the results as being announced, declaring that “it was hijacked, compromised and did not reflect the wishes of Ogun people.”
Corroborating Ishola, the APM governorship candidate, Akinlade, said that “people of Ogun State have been raped,” vowing to pursue all legal means to undo the alleged injustice.
