The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has named Morocco’s Achraf Hakimi, who plays for Paris Saint-Germain, the Player of the Year for 2025.

The 27-year-old emerged victorious against Victor Osimhen (Nigeria, Galatasaray) and Mohamed Salah (Egypt, Liverpool).

Achraf Hakimi has replaced Super Eagles attacker Ademola Lookman as the continent’s best player.

The defender had finished second in the previous two years.

Last season, Hakimi played a crucial role as PSG won the French Ligue 1, the French Cup, and their first-ever UEFA Champions League title.

Hakimi is currently injured and was spotted arriving for Monday’s awards ceremony with his foot heavily strapped.
